we have our passports.
This time, since the bikes and part of the crew are inexperienced campers/travelers, we thought it might behoove us to nail some specifics down. We calculated our stopping points, made sure campgrounds, military bases, or hotels were available, and added each point to our AAA Online Trip Tik map.
Funny thing about online maps. You must save them in order for them to actually be there the next time you look. And a smart person would save each change as she went along. I am not that smart "she". Oh, I did save the original route a few weeks ago, which included the parks we wanted to visit and.... um... that's it. Just the parks.

Too bad I couldn't do THIS to the computer! |
After 2-3 hours of painstakingly choosing campgrounds and hotels, either the site or my browser froze - don't know which. So, what do we have to show for those hours? Exactly nada, rien, niente, niets,... feel free to add any other languages. I've got nothing.
But enough of that! Since my proper prior planning went caput, it's time to do things the old fashioned way. We are heading west until we reach the Pacific, then we'll make a right in San Francisco and push north. When it gets too far north (and too cold) to camp, we'll make another right and head east. Finally, when we find ourselves relatively north of Louisiana, we can head in a south-easternly direction towards home.
Too bad we're not going north first. On the way back, I could have planned a left turn at Albuquerque!
(50 points if you guess the reference - 150 points if you guess and you are under age 10!)
