This series of posts will include noteworthy things that happened on the trip but I forgot to write about at the time. I will post each incident as I remember, so they will not be in chronological order.
While we were looking for Cochise Motorsports in Sierra Mesa, AZ, we had to make a u-turn. Picture me on lead, Azoica and crew in the minivan, and Dennis riding sweep (back). As I completed my u-turn, I kept an eye on Azoica through my side mirror. And I'm glad I did.
As Azoica made the turn, she performed her favorite maneuver - a curb check. Usually, this only leads to some teasing from the rest of us but, this
time, a hub cap came off. Azoica finished her turn and continued driving, completely oblivious of the now-rolling hub cap.
Here's where the coolness comes in. Dennis, awesome sweeper that he is, swept up the hub cap as it rolled... while making his own turn. In deference to the direction the hub cap had taken, he did make a left turn instead of a u-turn. But it was an awesome lean-and-grab. No mean feat, especially on a large bike. Then he went around the block, hub cap balanced on his lap, and met us at Cochise Motorsport, where we proceeded to crack up about the whole thing, me wishing the whole time that we had been able to video it.
How impressive was it? The guy in the car stopped at the light missed his green light so he could watch Dennis. That impressive.
